Frequently asked questions
QStairs are fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel — offering far greater durability and corrosion resistance than competitors who rely on zinc-spraying. The result is a heavy-duty, long-wearing finish built to outperform in even the harshest environments.
What is a Category A staircase? A Category A small private spiral stair is intended for use by a limited number of people who are generally familiar with the staircase. For example, an internal stair in a dwelling serving one room not being a living room or a kitchen, an external access stair to an office not used by the public, or spiral fire escape stairs for a small number of people.
What is a Category B staircase? A Category B private stair can do everything a Category A stair can, and can also provide the main access to the upper floor of a private dwelling. (More detail available on their Building Regulations page.)
Use a tape measure or laser measure to measure the vertical distance between finished floor levels. This is the distance from the finished lower floor (e.g. paved patio) to the finished upper floor (decking/landing).
We provide a square landing in the same finish as the rest of the stair kit you choose.
Cat A 1500mm radius landing is approximately 950mm x 820mm
Cat B 1900mm radius landing is approximately 1150mm x 1020mm
