QStairs is the trading name of Quality Stairs Limited, and behind that name sits over 40 years of experience designing and manufacturing spiral staircases.

That's four decades of solving the same problem, over and over: how do you fit a staircase into a space that was never quite designed for one? Long before "self-build" was a buzzword, our engineers were working out how to make a spiral staircase strong enough for daily use and elegant enough to be the feature of a room rather than an afterthought.

From bespoke expertise to a kit you can build yourself

For most of our history, that expertise went into bespoke installations - staircases designed and fitted individually, project by project. Along the way we learned exactly what makes a spiral staircase work: the tolerances that matter, the finishes that last, the details that separate a staircase that feels solid from one that doesn't.

QStairs exists because we realised that knowledge shouldn't be locked away behind a bespoke price tag. We took everything we'd learned and asked a different question: could we design a spiral staircase kit precise enough, and simple enough, for a competent self-builder to install themselves - without cutting corners on quality?

The result is a range of self-assembly staircase kits, engineered to the same exacting specifications as our bespoke work, but ready to order, delivered to your door, and built for a straightforward install.

Proudly based in Cornwall

We're based in Cornwall, a part of the country better known for coastlines than steel fabrication, but one with a long, quiet tradition of skilled engineering. It's from here that every QStairs kit is designed and manufactured, before being delivered UK-wide.

Being in Cornwall also means being tested by Cornwall's weather. Wind, salt air, and rain don't leave much room for shortcuts in materials which is part of why we build the way we do.
